Despite the snow last week, all 14 students taking the challenging B1 (11 candidates) and C1 (3 candidates) German language exams made it to school and completed the written part of the exam. They are now preparing for the oral portion - to be held next Saturday, March 15. Our school consultant, Dr. Inke Pinkert-Saeltzer, traveling from Washington D.C. will be presiding over the oral exam this year. We'd like to express special thanks to Ute Groening and Annemarie Weicker for preparing our students so diligently. And while we're on the topic of exams:
The results for the AATG test, taken by 90 students from our school (all in Grade 6 and higher) back in January, are in. Our school scored an average of 90.38 points - thats' almost 20 points higher than the national average. The test, divided into 3 levels, allows us to see how our students compare to other German language students in the U.S. (approx. 26,000 students participated this year). It's also important on a monetary level: the amount of financial assistance from Germany for our school is partly determined by how many of our students successfully participate in each level of the test. So, congrats to our students and teachers for their great work and effort!
And one more note on exams: The newly introduced A2 exam (written and oral portion) will be taken by 35 students from our school on April 5. This test is still in its pilot phase.
