With spring around the corner, many of you will be making summer plans. We've put together a list of German Language summer camps you may want to review if you are considering sending your child abroad or attending a camp closer to home:
AATG (American Association of Teachers of German)
The AATG offers a summer study program for High School students in Germany. You can find detailed information on this 3-week program as well as other German summer camp information here.
GLSC (German Language School Conference)
The Program for 12 through 16-year olds is a home-stay program with families in Ingelheim near Frankfurt, Germany. A GLSC teacher supervises the group. The Program offers participants an opportunity to use German in a German-speaking environment. The students live with carefully screened host families and participate fully in their lives. Collegium Austriacum/IFK Deutschkurse Salzburg
In its 60th year, the "Internationalen Ferienkurse" remain a meeting point for people from all of the world to enhance their knowledge of German while enjoying a stay in beautiful Salzburg during the festival summer. Information about courses during the summer and throughout the year can be found here or contact the office directly via e-mail.
Carl Duisberg Centers
The Carl Duisberg Centers offer several German language course in Germany for students of different age groups throughout Germany. Check out their various summer programs.
The Humboldt Institut
The Humboldt-Institut, a non-profit organization first established in 1977, is one of Germany's premier language institutes. It has several centers throughout Germany and offers courses for children age 8 to adult. For more information, visit their Web site.
Goethe Institut
The Goethe Institut offers a broad range of German language immersion courses for students, age 18 to 99, in thirteen locations throughout Germany. Summer programs for children and teens, age 9 to 18, combine intensive language instruction and recreational programs in an international setting. The Language Experience
The Language Experience is a private language camp organization located near Braunschweig/Germany. This summer it offers a 10-day bi-lingual German/English intensive language study camp for kids age 10-14 who are either German or English native speakers to learn each others language. Not just to improve their school grades but also to make new international friends and continue communication beyond the camp. More information here.
