Library

A vital part of language acquisition is reading. We are fortunate to offer a fully-automated lending library. Our library, now officially called the "KrisJann VanOpdorp Bücherei an der Deutschen Sonnabendschule Boston" in recognition of the work Kris, one of the library's founding parents, put into this project. Students, teachers and parents have access to our school library throughout the academic year. The library has a comprehensive collection of German books, magazines, videos and DVDs, audiotapes, and computer software for all ages. Many of the materials support the work done in the classrooms, especially in the section “Thema der Woche”, where parents can see which topics are currently being covered in each classroom. Each family is issued a library card at the beginning of the school year. The library is open Saturdays during school. Look at our library lending policy. The library holds two fund-raisers during the year, giving families the opportunity to thank their children’s teachers and to make a contribution to the library. Funds are used to acquire new books, movies and software, and for special projects, such as upgrading equipment.
