German Violinist in Concert on April 12th

Augustin Hadelich, a young and talented German violinist, will be playing at Jordan Hall on Saturday, April 12th at 8pm. Accompanied by the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, he will be performing Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1. View the full program or read about Augustin Hadelich.

"Tollpatsch" is a winner

If you thought that "Tollpatsch" refers to someone who's a little clumsy, you're right, but now he's shown winner qualities: "Tollpatsch" has been voted to be the top "word with migration background" in the German language. Farewell Dinner Dance at Boylston Schul-Verein for German Consul on May 17

Goethe-Institut: Kindermatinee on Sundays; German movies at Coolidge Corner

The April movie as part of the "Kindermatinee im Goethe-Kino" series is "Mondscheinkinder"  (Deutschland 2005/06) for children 8 and older. The movie will be screened in German with no subtitles on Sunday, April 13 at 11:00a.m. at 170 Beacon Street  in Boston. Admission is free. Coolidge Corner Theatre in conjunction with the Goethe Institut is screening a series of German movies. "Netto" (Germany, 2005) will be shown on Sunday, April 6 at 12.30pm in German with English subtitles. German Foreign Minister Steinmeier to speak in Boston

German Foreign Minister, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will be speaking at Harvard University (Fogg Art Museum) on Saturday, April 12, at 11AM. Goethe-Institut: "Berlin Alexanderplatz Remastered" at the ICA March 27-30

Movielovers have the unique opportunity to watch all newly restored episodes of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's epic masterpiece "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (in German, with English subtitles) on the big screen at the ICA in Boston. Co-presented by the Goethe-Institut Boston, the eleven episodes will be screened in segments over four days March 27-30. For more information click here.

"Germans in America" - contact WGBH to get it on the air

You may have heard about the four-part television series  "Germans in America" which recounts the story of German immigrants to the United States. This series, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of the first Germans settling in America, was originally broadcast in Europe and is being distributed, according to the Goethe Institut, to public television stations across the U.S starting March 16.

"A Journey to Kreisau" at Boston Playwrights' Theatre

Blue Pumpkin Productions presents the story about a remarkable couple at the center of German resistance to the Nazis: Helmuth James & Freya von Moltke. Five performances are scheduled for April 9 through April 13 at 7.30pm (3pm on Sunday). Learn more about this play.

German Language School in NH looking for help
